My little model

Life in general has been so busy lately! My daughter started kindergarten this year, she is in two dance classes a week and just finished up her first (and probably last) season of soccer. I work while she is in school and when she isn't, I juggle doing work from home along with personal work for myself and general mom/wife duties :)

Recently, I have been working a lot on different plaques, canvases and whatever else i can come up with to sell, not only in my etsy shop, but in local businesses and craft fairs too. ...more about this later!

Today, I was trying to take some nice photos of a canvas that I completed a week or two ago. The sun was shining in the back of our house, I had some fabric and things set up for a nice backdrop and I was ready to take pictures. My daughter, who is 5, dashes out of the room in a hurry and comes back in less than 2 minutes dressed in the first princess costume she could find. She waits around (patiently, I might add) for me to finish snapping pictures and when i am finished she proceeds to sit in the exact spot that I had been photographing the canvas. She looks up at me and says, "Aren't you going to take pictures of me, mom?"

How could I say no?! So she starts posing and smiling at the camera and I snap a few pics. She is really big into the whole modeling thing and really knows how to "ham it up" for the camera. See the pics below :)

Words can not express the feelings that I have for my little girl and pictures can't capture it either but I'm glad she likes being photographed because one day she will be all grown up and I hope to look back and remember exactly how I felt at these moments in time :)

Back to Reality

After 4 days on the beach in Florida and 7 days on the beach in St. Lucia, it is back to the real world for me! I have A LOT of projects to catch up on and it's so overwhelming that I'm having trouble deciding where to start :P

I'm trying to ease back into the swing of things by photographing and posting some projects that I didn't get to share before leaving town. You can see all of my projects in my "52 Finishes" tab but here is a little peak at my wedding projects I just added...

I hope to be posting many more projects SOON! While I do miss the beach terribly, it sure is nice to start creating things again!!

Babies, Babies, Babies

It seems like babies are every where these days! I think I am just at THE age where all of my peers and friends and cousins are having children of their own. It's so crazy to think that in my extended family alone, we will have 7 new babies by the fall! As I was standing in Babies'R'Us (buying gifts for baby showers) looking at all of the adorable bedding options, I thought to myself...this should be some inspiration for me! If I was buying bedding for a new baby the first thought I would have is "how will I coordinate this with the walls of the nursery?" So that is how I came up with my 7th project of the year! I made a "mini mural" to match one of the many bedding options out there. You can find it on my 52 Finishes page and now also in my Etsy shop! I'm sure there will be more of these to come, so be on the look out :)

A new audience

My most recent project was completed and given as a gift to a friend I have known since I was 5 years old. She and I are both getting married this year - on the same day! How can there be 365 days in a year and two friends choose the exact same date for their wedding?! Such a weird coincidence!

I was attending her bridal shower this past weekend and I wanted to give her something special that she could keep forever. That's where the painting comes in :)  It has her soon-to-be new married named painted and glittered on along with the year they will be married. I love how it turned out and I have already had a couple of requests for others. So it looks like my paintings are branching out to a new, older audience and not just kids anymore :) Although I do think I'll have to try this concept with a child's name and their birthdate ...it would look so cute in a nursery! Stay tuned for that :) You can see the pictures I posted of the completed project on my tab for my 52 finishes project! 6 complete and 46 to go!
